Regional Landscape Park Znesinnya

Regional Landscape Park Znesinnya is a protected area in Lviv Oblast covering approximately 312 hectares, with limestone hills, forests, meadows, and a small lake. The varied terrain creates different landscape zones that visitors can explore on foot or by bike.

The park grounds contain archaeological remains of Ruthenian settlements from the 9th century, with a 13th-century defense tower standing within its boundaries. These structures mark a long history of human settlement and protection in the region.

The park's name comes from the historic village of Snesinnja, which refers to the religious celebration of Christ's Ascension in local tradition. Visitors can still see traces of this cultural connection reflected in the landscape and nearby settlements.

The area offers hiking trails, a bike path, a skate park, and winter sports options for different visitors. Bring weather-appropriate clothing since the hills and open areas provide limited shelter.

The limestone formations contain marine fossils and shell deposits dating back 20 to 25 million years. These geological layers tell the story of when this region once lay beneath the sea.
