Novotroitske is an urban-type settlement in eastern Ukraine situated in Donetsk Oblast. The settlement occupies an elevated location about 34 kilometers southwest of the regional center and sits within an area of gently rolling terrain.
The settlement was founded in 1834 and developed within the administrative framework of the Volnovakha region. Major administrative reorganizations in the 1920s reshaped its role within the regional structure.
The settlement reflects the demographic composition of Volnovakha Raion, where the 2001 census recorded 78.2 percent Ukrainian and 16.4 percent Russian populations.
