Elgin

Elgin is a suburban city in northwestern Cook County and Kane County, Illinois, that spreads along the Fox River. The city sits roughly 35 miles (56 kilometers) from Chicago and features two train stations offering direct connections to downtown.

The city developed into an important production center during the 19th century after a large watch factory was founded there. This factory brought numerous workers and skilled craftsmen to the region and shaped the economic development of the entire area.
