Milk Pail Restaurant
Milk Pail Restaurant, Historic dining venue in Dundee Township, Illinois.
Milk Pail Restaurant is a restaurant occupying a farmhouse with gablefront architecture and Italianate details in Dundee Township. The building contains multiple dining rooms arranged across its historic structure.
The building was constructed in the 1860s as a creamery by Increase C. Bosworth and served that purpose for many decades. Max McGraw purchased the property in 1929 and converted it into a restaurant, which continues today.
The restaurant grew from a country tea room and serves game dishes that reflect local hunting and farming traditions. Visitors can observe these rural roots in how the place operates and what food is offered.
The restaurant is located along Illinois State Route 25 with ample parking available on site. The interior spaces can accommodate various types of gatherings from private celebrations to larger group dinners.
The original 19th-century creamery operation left architectural traces in the building that visitors can still spot today. These physical remnants of the past remain visible in how the restaurant uses its spaces.
