CHI Health Center Omaha, Multi-purpose arena in North Downtown, Omaha, United States
CHI Health Center Omaha is a multi-purpose arena in the North Downtown neighborhood that spreads across roughly 100,000 square meters. The facility includes an exhibition hall of about 18,000 square meters and additional meeting rooms covering around 5,800 square meters.
The arena opened its doors on September 20, 2003 under the name Qwest Center Omaha after voters approved a bond in 2000. The construction project cost 291 million dollars and transformed a section of downtown into a modern event venue.
The grand ballroom inside carries the name Peter Kiewit and provides space for graduation ceremonies, charity events and business gatherings. On event days the building fills with people from across the region who come here for concerts, sports games or other gatherings.
The number of seats changes depending on the type of event and reaches roughly 18,975 for concerts with a center stage or around 18,320 for basketball games. Visitors find entrances on several sides of the building so they can use different access points depending on their seat location.
The arena serves each year as the venue for the Berkshire Hathaway shareholders meeting, where thousands of investors gather. This event draws people from around the world to Omaha and turns the city for a few days into a meeting point for the financial world.
