Holland Performing Arts Center, Modern concert hall in downtown Omaha, United States
The Holland Performing Arts Center is a concert hall and performing arts venue in downtown Omaha, Nebraska, built around two performance spaces of different sizes. The larger Kiewit Concert Hall holds around 2,000 people, while the smaller Scott Hall fits about 350.
The center opened in 2005 as part of a push to grow the cultural life of downtown Omaha. It was designed by the architecture firm HDR, Inc., which is itself headquartered in Omaha.
The center is home to the Omaha Symphony Orchestra, which performs its regular season here. Visiting artists from theater, comedy, and world music also use the space throughout the year.
The building sits in downtown Omaha and is easy to spot and reach on foot from nearby streets. On busy event nights, the area around the venue fills up early, so arriving with some time to spare is a good idea.
The acoustic design of Kiewit Concert Hall was modeled after European concert halls, which is unusual for a new build in the United States. The result is a warm, full sound that is rarely heard in North American halls of this size.
