WoodmenLife Tower, Office skyscraper in downtown Omaha, United States.
The WoodmenLife Tower is a 30-story office building located at 1700 Farnam Street in downtown Omaha with a distinctive dual-roof design. The structure rises approximately 478 feet (146 meters) and combines concrete and steel in its construction.
The building was completed in 1969 and served as Nebraska's tallest structure for over three decades. It lost this distinction in 2002 when the First National Bank Tower surpassed it.
The building gained recognition as a filming location in the 2002 film About Schmidt, with several interior spaces used as sets. This appearance helped bring local attention to the structure as a recognizable Omaha landmark.
The tower sits in a central downtown location on Farnam Street and is easy to reach on foot. Most floors house working offices and businesses, so public access is generally limited to the lobby and common areas.
The building's rooftop hosts families of peregrine falcons that nest and raise their young there. These birds make the structure a notable location for observing wildlife in an urban setting.
