Lewis and Clark Landing, Riverside park in Downtown Omaha, Nebraska.
Lewis and Clark Landing is a riverside park spanning about 23 acres along the Missouri River in downtown Omaha. It features an elevated walkway about 8 feet (2.4 meters) high above the river, walking trails, and open recreational areas located north of Interstate 480.
The site marks where the Lewis and Clark Expedition landed in 1804 while exploring lands acquired in the Louisiana Purchase. This historic location documents the starting point of the journey that would map much of western North America.
The park honors working people through one of the nation's largest labor monuments and remembers local firefighters with a dedicated memorial. These monuments show how the community values the contributions of its own residents to the city's growth.
The park can be reached via the Martin Luther King Jr. Pedestrian Bridge, which connects to CHI Health Center and features informational displays throughout. Most pathways remain accessible in various weather conditions, and exploring during daylight hours works best.
The Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge extends directly from the park across the Missouri River to Council Bluffs, Iowa, allowing walkers to cross between two states on foot. This structure stands out as one of the few pedestrian bridges linking two states in such a direct way.
