The Joslyn Art Museum spans three buildings displaying an extensive collection of artworks representing 5,000 years of human artistic expression.
Founded in 1931, the museum originated from Sarah Joslyn's dedication to create a public art center in memory of her husband George Joslyn.
The museum integrates Native American art with American and contemporary galleries, placing Plains beadwork alongside paintings by Mary Cassatt and Childe Hassam.
The museum remains closed until 2024 for renovation works, with plans to enhance visitor facilities and expand exhibition spaces.
The collection includes The First Sea by Matthew Ritchie from 2003, part of The Phillip G. Schrager Collection displaying five decades of art.
