History: Unlike the much larger Horseshoe Falls, of which approximately 90% is in Ontario, Canada and 10% in the U.S. state of New York, the American Falls is entirely within the U.S. state of New York.

Culture: The falls have been a popular tourist attraction for over 200 years, and they have also been the site of some daring stunts.

Practical: Viewing the American Falls is free to the public, with many vantage points in both the U.S. and Canada.
