Prospect Point Park observation tower

Prospect Point Park observation tower, Observation tower at Niagara Falls State Park, United States

Prospect Point Park's observation tower rises 86 meters above the Niagara Gorge, offering views of both the American and Horseshoe Falls from multiple levels. The structure uses elevators to transport visitors upward to the main deck and downward to connect with boat tour operations at the water level below.

The structure was completed in 1961, replacing industrial facilities that had occupied this location since 1870. This modern construction marked a shift toward making the site accessible as a major destination for viewing the falls.

The tower serves as the main gathering point where visitors first encounter the raw power of the falls in person. From this vantage point, people experience both waterfalls in their full scale and feel the immediate presence of this natural force.

Elevators make reaching the observation deck straightforward for most visitors. Expect wind and cool air at the top, particularly when standing near the railing where mist from the falls drifts upward.

The observation deck is made from pre-cast concrete and extends directly over the gorge, creating an intense sense of proximity to the falls. This engineering choice allows visitors to stand almost directly above the abyss.
