Twelve Monograms, Imperial Easter egg at Hillwood Museum & Gardens, United States
The Twelve Monograms Egg displays twelve panels separated by diamond rows, featuring crowned monograms on royal blue enamel with rose-cut diamonds.
Michael Perkhin crafted this imperial Fabergé egg in 1896 for Empress Maria Feodorovna, continuing the Easter tradition initiated by Alexander III.
The egg incorporates champlevé enamel techniques, where artisans carved areas from gold to create intricate foliate patterns filled with colored enamel.
Visitors can examine this 7.9-centimeter-tall masterpiece in the Icon Room of Hillwood Museum, which houses numerous Russian decorative objects.
The interior contains ivory satin lining, though the original surprise element, a folding screen with portraits of Alexander III, no longer remains.
