Añasco, Municipality in western Puerto Rico
Añasco is a municipality in western Puerto Rico that borders the Mona Passage with neighboring towns of Mayagüez, Rincón, and San Sebastián. The landscape includes rolling hills, mountains, and the Río Grande de Añasco flowing through the area.
The town was founded on October 18, 1733, when Luis de Añasco, a settler from Extremadura in Spain, established the area alongside landowner José de Santiago. This establishment marked the beginning of the region's long history.
The January Fiesta de San Antonio Abad draws residents and visitors to celebrate with parades, local crafts, food, and live performances that reflect the community's character.
The Municipal Building provides administrative services and can be reached at telephone number +1 787-826-3100 for questions or assistance. Visitor services and guidance are available through this central location.
The area features 18 beaches, including Tres Hermanos Beach, and is home to the Caribbean's largest wave pool at Parque de Diversiones El Castillo. This mix of natural and created water attractions sets the location apart.
