Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park, Indoor and outdoor water park in Wisconsin Dells, United States
Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park is a large leisure facility with water and ride attractions in Wisconsin Dells, United States. The property covers more than 9,000 square meters (100,000 square feet) and connects indoor water areas with outdoor pools, slides and several roller coasters.
A Greek immigrant named Demetrios Laskaris opened a small hot dog stand here in 1970, which grew gradually into a large leisure complex. Water and ride attractions were added step by step, eventually forming the combined park with its classical Greek themed elements.
Ride names and area sections draw from ancient Greek gods, heroes and creatures such as Poseidon and Medusa. Throughout the grounds, visitors find columns, statues and architectural references to classical Greece, giving the complex a consistent look.
The complex stays open throughout the year, with indoor sections accessible even during colder months. Overnight accommodations are available on site and include access to all attractions without separate admission.
A rotating waterslide called Medusa's Slidewheel was the first of its kind in the United States when it opened. Another slide reaches a height of around 44 meters (145 feet), making it one of the tallest in the country.
