Lost Canyon Tours
Lost Canyon Tours is a recreation area near Lake Delton where visitors ride in horse-drawn carriages through a mile-long canyon. The route winds through narrow passages between tall sandstone walls that rise steeply on both sides and create dramatic rock formations.
Lost Canyon was opened in 1956 by Dr. R. O. Ebert, who started offering horse-wagon rides through the gorge. The Kissack family took over operations in 1967 and continues running the tours today, preserving access to this natural formation.
Lost Canyon Tours has been cared for by the Kissack family since 1967, making it accessible to visitors who want to experience the land. The place reflects how the region values its natural landscape and invites people to connect with the geological forces that shaped it.
Tours operate from March through November daily from 9 AM to 7 PM, depending on weather conditions. The location is easily reached from Lake Delton with parking available, and each ride takes about 30 minutes, making it accessible for visitors of all ages.
Some of the sandstone walls have not seen sunlight for over 50,000 years, giving them a rugged and ancient appearance. This extreme isolation and darkness in the deeper passages creates a feeling of stepping back through geological time.
