Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, largest exhibition center in the Northeast United States
Boston Convention and Exhibition Center is a modern event facility in Massachusetts with over 2 million square feet of space. The building features three exhibition halls that can be used separately or combined, more than 80 meeting rooms, a grand ballroom overlooking the harbor, and over 500,000 square feet of column-free space for flexible layouts.
The center opened in 2004 as a major investment to boost economic growth in Boston. Architect Rafael Viñoly designed the building with emphasis on spacious, functional layouts, and it has since become a venue for major trade shows and conferences.
The center has become a central gathering place in Boston's Seaport district, drawing visitors from across the country and shaping how this former port area is used today. Its role in hosting major events has turned the neighborhood into a hub where business and tourism intersect.
The facility is located in Boston's Seaport district, just a few miles from Logan Airport and easily reachable by car, bus, or train. The Silver Line and other bus routes stop nearby, though nearby streets can get busy during major events.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the center was converted into a field hospital to help treat patients, showing how flexible the large spaces are. This temporary transformation revealed the facility's importance to the city during crisis situations.
