Cadwalader Park, Urban park in Trenton, United States.
Cadwalader Park is a 109.5 acre (44 hectare) green space featuring natural meadows, a stream, and a small lake in Trenton. The Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park runs through the grounds, and Ellarslie Mansion, a historic house, sits at the center.
Frederick Law Olmsted, the renowned landscape architect, designed this park in 1890 as one of his final major urban commissions. He incorporated the already standing Ellarslie Mansion into his overall design scheme.
The Trenton City Museum in Ellarslie Mansion displays local art and regional stories to visitors. The building itself shows how the city developed over time through its collections and exhibitions.
This park works well for walking and cycling along the canal and through open areas. Wear sturdy shoes and be ready for varied terrain and natural ground conditions.
The grounds hold a monument featuring the Swamp Angel cannon, a historic gun used during the 1863 siege of Charleston. Few visitors notice this Civil War artifact when exploring the park.
