Christ Church

Christ Church is a brick building designed in Georgian style, featuring Flemish bond brickwork and a Palladian window in the chancel. The interior displays classical proportions and period details that reflect 18th-century design traditions.

Construction began in 1767 under John Carlyle's supervision and finished in 1773 as the principal church for Fairfax Parish. The building represented an important religious center in the region during the colonial period.

The congregation gathers here regularly for worship, creating a space where people share moments of reflection and community connection. For many residents of Alexandria, this place serves as a spiritual anchor woven into their daily lives.

During World War II, President Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Eleanor Roosevelt attended a service here in 1942. This gathering marked a remarkable moment in the church's history during a time of global crisis.
