Darien Lakes State Park

Darien Lakes State Park is a natural area in western New York covering roughly 1,845 acres. The property contains lakes, forests, and rolling hills with hiking trails that provide opportunities for outdoor activities and watching wildlife.

The preserve was established in the 1950s to protect natural lands and provide recreation for people in the area. Its creation reflected a broader effort to safeguard natural spaces in western New York for future generations.

During winter the area becomes a recreation hub with marked trails for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling, plus seasonal hunting opportunities. These cold-season activities bring visitors during months when many parks see fewer people.
