Chimqo'rg'on Suv Ombori, reservoir in Uzbekistan
Chimqo'rg'on Suv Ombori is a large water storage reservoir located in the Qarshi region of Uzbekistan on flat terrain. The body of water extends across several kilometers with an average depth of about 17 meters, held back by a dam roughly 33 meters high that manages the water supply.
Construction of the reservoir began in 1958 and was completed in 1960 to improve water management in the dry region. Since then, it has served for decades as key infrastructure for irrigating farmland and supplying nearby communities.
The reservoir takes its name from the nearby village of Chimqo'rg'on and serves as a central part of daily life for local communities who depend on its water. The sight of it across the flat landscape connects the people here to their history of water management and agriculture.
