Dresdner Hütte, Mountain hut at Stubai Glacier, Austria.
The Dresdner Hütte is a mountain shelter at 2,308 meters (7,572 feet) in the Stubai Alps with sleeping space for 146 guests and multiple dining areas. The lodge combines traditional mountain refuge features with modern comforts such as hot showers, a sauna, and an infrared cabin.
The German Alpine Club's Dresden section founded this first mountain refuge in the Stubai Valley in 1875, pioneering mountaineering access to the region. Since then, the hut has been central to climbing development in the Alps.
The hut is family-run across generations and embodies Alpine hospitality traditions through personal service and shared meals that bring mountain visitors together. Guests experience a lived culture of mountain welcoming that shapes how people connect in high-altitude settings.
The hut is reached by a five-minute walk from the Stubai Glacier cableway middle station, making the approach manageable for walkers without extreme effort. This proximity to the cable station allows easy arrivals and departures throughout the year.
The shelter functions year-round as a base for different activities: hiking in summer and as a skiing station in winter with direct access to slopes. This dual purpose makes it an unusual location that serves both seasons fully.
