Top of Tyrol, Observation deck on Großer Isidor mountain, Sölden, Austria.
Top of Tyrol is an observation platform on Großer Isidor mountain in Sölden that extends roughly 9 meters out over the mountainside. The structure is built from reddish-brown weathered Corten steel and sits at an elevation of 3,196 meters (10,502 feet), offering visitors a sweeping view of the surrounding Alps.
The platform was built in 2009, introducing a new architectural approach to mountain observation points. The Corten steel material naturally weathers over time, gradually blending into the alpine landscape.
The platform connects visitors to Austrian alpine traditions through educational displays about local mountain ranges and neighboring peaks exceeding 3,000 meters.
The platform is reachable year-round via the Gaislachkogl cable car, though it closes periodically for maintenance in spring and fall. Bring warm clothing, as temperatures at this altitude are significantly cooler than in the valley below.
The platform features specialized viewing telescopes that provide information about roughly 109 mountain peaks visible from this location across Austria and Italy. On clear days, visitors can use these to identify and learn about the surrounding summits.
