Olpererhütte is a mountain refuge situated at 2388 meters at the foot of Olperer in the Zillertal Alps. The building offers views across to the Schlegeis reservoir and the snow-covered peaks that surround it.
The mountain shelter was founded in 1881 by the German and Austrian Alpine Club. Following structural damage, the building underwent complete reconstruction in 2006.
This refuge sits along several established Alpine trails that connect different valleys and regions. Visitors encounter a mix of hikers from nearby and distant places who stop here during their journeys.
The hike starts from the Schlegeis reservoir area and gains roughly 600 meters in elevation. Sturdy footwear and reasonable fitness are helpful, as the route takes between 1.5 and 2 hours.
The refuge has hot shower facilities, which is uncommon at this elevation. Its restaurant serves local dishes that hikers appreciate after demanding climbs.
