Hochfernerspitze, Mountain summit in Pfitsch, Italy

The Hochfernerspitze rises to 3,463 meters in elevation within the Zillertal Alps, featuring steep slopes and glacial formations along its northern wall.

Mountaineers Victor Hecht and J. Maierhofer achieved the first recorded ascent of Hochfernerspitze in 1875, establishing new routes through the mountain's challenging terrain.

The mountain, known as Grand Vedretta in Italian, represents a significant part of South Tyrol's alpine heritage, drawing climbers from multiple European nations.

Access to Hochfernerspitze requires following the Inntalautobahn via Brenner Pass to Sterzing, then continuing through Pfitschertal toward the Pfitscher Joch parking area.

The summit presents three distinct climbing variants, including a direct route through glacier fractures that reaches inclinations between 60 and 80 degrees.
