Yenikend reservoir, lake in Azerbaijan
Yenikend reservoir is a large body of water on the Kura River in Azerbaijan covering about 23 square kilometers. It is surrounded by flat land with grasses and low vegetation, and serves both water storage and electricity generation through four turbines.
The facility began operating in 2000 as part of Azerbaijan's effort to generate power from natural resources. Since then, it has supported the region's electricity supply and irrigates around 6000 hectares of farmland in the surrounding area.
The reservoir is a gathering place where locals come for quiet walks and simple outdoor activities like picnics near the water. The open land and calm surface create a space where people connect with nature and take a break from daily routines.
