Shah Amanat Bridge, Cable-supported bridge in Chittagong, Bangladesh
The Shah Amanat Bridge stretches 950 meters across the Karnaphuli River with two lanes for vehicles and dedicated paths for bicycles and pedestrians.
Construction of the bridge began in August 2006 and finished in September 2010, marking the third crossing point over the Karnaphuli River in Chittagong.
The bridge carries the name of an influential 18th-century Islamic figure, Shah Amanat, who held spiritual significance in the Chittagong region.
The structure incorporates four primary traffic lanes, specialized 1.5-meter lanes for rickshaws and bicycles, plus walkways on both sides for pedestrian access.
The bridge stands as Bangladesh's first major extradosed design, featuring five piers with three 200-meter main spans and prestressed concrete construction.
