Café del Mar

Café del Mar sits directly on the seafront with views of Mediterranean sunsets and Sa Conillera island through large windows and a terrace. The space combines an open layout with comfortable seating that faces the water.

Architect Lluis Güell opened the venue in 1980 as a gathering space for artists and music lovers. Over time it became central to the development of Balearic music and shaped the sound of an era.

The venue sparked a musical movement through compilation albums featuring electronic, ambient, and classical selections curated by resident DJs. This sound shaped how visitors experience the space and continues to define its identity.

The venue operates from late March through late October with the best sunset views from the terrace. Reserving tables ahead of time helps secure premium spots with sea views.

DJ José Padilla shaped the musical identity from 1991 to 1999, producing the first six compilation albums. These recordings became a time capsule of a particular sound that collectors still seek out today.
