Sagunt

Sagunto stretches between the Calderona and Espadán mountain ranges, positioned 30 kilometers north of Valencia near the Mediterranean Sea coast.

The Roman settlement of Saguntum gained prominence in 219 BC when Hannibal's siege ignited the Second Punic War between Carthage and Rome.

The Jewish quarter, marked by the Portal de la Juheria arch, maintains medieval streets and structures from centuries of Jewish presence in Sagunto.

Visitors can access multiple archaeological sites, including the Roman theater and castle remains, through guided tours starting from the main square.

The Roman theater of Sagunto holds the distinction of being the first structure declared as a National Monument in Spain in 1896.
