Bermeo

The municipality extends along the northern coast of Biscay province, featuring a deep-sea port and numerous residential areas across an elevation of 11 meters.

Established in 1201, Bermeo maintained its position as the provincial capital of Biscay from 1476 to 1602, directing regional affairs from Ercilla Tower.

The Fishermen's Museum, housed in the 15th-century Ercilla Tower, displays maritime artifacts and documents the evolution of local fishing methods through centuries.

The municipality connects to major cities through regular bus services to Bilbao, while the town hall in Sabino Arana Goiri Square handles administrative matters.

From thirty medieval defensive towers that protected Bermeo, only Ercilla Tower remains standing, marking the last vestige of the municipality's fortified past.
