Masca

Masca is a mountain village nestled in a deep valley between rock walls and cliffs within Teno Rural Park. The settlement consists of a few whitewashed houses clinging to steep hillsides, displaying traditional Canary Island architecture.

The village developed as an isolated mountain community that sustained itself through farming and livestock raising. For centuries, this isolation shaped how residents lived, until modern roads eventually improved connections with the outside world.

The Ethnographic Museum displays traditional objects, farming tools, and documents that show how people lived in this remote valley for generations. The exhibits reveal the daily routines and skills that families needed to survive in such an isolated place.

The access road winds up the mountainside with many switchbacks and requires careful driving, especially when meeting other vehicles. Parking is limited and arriving early in the day helps secure a spot.

From the village, a hiking trail descends through a narrow gorge carved from volcanic rock, eventually reaching the ocean. Along the way, hidden waterfalls and natural pools appear within the rock formations.
