Buenavista Lighthouse, Lighthouse in northern Tenerife, Spain.
Buenavista Lighthouse consists of two concrete towers built on a shared foundation, with one featuring an open spiral staircase rising 40 meters high. Both structures work together to serve as a navigation aid for ships passing the northern coast.
The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife built this navigation aid in 1990 as part of a regional safety improvement program. The project was part of a broader effort to modernize maritime infrastructure across the region.
The structure represents how maritime infrastructure on the Canary Islands shifted from older designs to contemporary forms.
Visitors can see both towers from outside and observe them from the nearby coast, with the open spiral staircase structure visible from certain angles. The location is easily accessible from the road and offers good vantage points to view the surrounding waters.
The light signal sends four white flashes every eleven seconds and can be seen from ships up to 20 nautical miles away. This distinctive flash pattern makes it an easy-to-recognize marker for ship captains navigating the region.
