Segorbe

Segorbe sits on two hills above the Palancia River with defensive structures from the Middle Ages. The town preserves narrow streets and stone buildings that reflect its earlier appearance.

The place was a religious center under Visigothic rule, later controlled by Moors, and eventually came under Aragonese administration. This succession shaped its built and cultural development over centuries.

The cathedral complex is the spiritual center of the town and displays artworks from different periods. Visitors can trace religious layers of the past through the spaces and their furnishings.

The center is walkable and most points lie close together on the hills. Flat shoes are recommended since the paths are paved and sometimes steep.

An autumn festival draws large crowds of visitors who come to see traditional animal events. The town transforms completely during these days and becomes the center of a widespread tradition.
