Almagro

Almagro is a town in Ciudad Real Province with a rectangular main square enclosed by two-story buildings featuring green wooden balconies dating from the 16th century. This plaza and its surrounding structures form the architectural heart of the place and define its appearance.

The Order of Calatrava established their headquarters in Almagro during medieval times and turned it into a major administrative center for the region. This presence shaped how the town developed and its importance for centuries afterward.

The Corral de Comedias theater, built in 1628, still shows how Spanish theater was structured during the 17th century with its open courtyard design. The town remains connected to this theatrical heritage through regular performances and cultural events held there.
