Church of San Cebrián de Mazote

The Church of San Cebrián de Mazote is a stone church with three naves separated by monolithic columns and horseshoe arches. The building measures 30 m long and 16 m wide, displaying the architectural layout of its medieval period.

The building dates to the 10th century and stands at the boundary between Visigothic architecture and the emerging Romanesque style of the medieval period. This transition shaped the structure and its architectural features.

The interior holds an alabaster Assumption sculpture by Inocencio Berruguete that shows the religious artistry of the region. This work reflects the craft tradition that was valued in this part of Spain.

The wooden ceiling and triple-apse sanctuary show a blend of building elements from different Spanish medieval traditions. This combination came from local builders' preference for varied construction techniques of their period.
