La Tejita

La Tejita is a natural beach on the southern coast of Tenerife with a broad stretch of light-colored sand. The shoreline extends roughly one kilometer and is framed by Montaña Roja Nature Reserve, which features distinctive reddish hillsides.

The beach has remained in its original form for centuries and was protected from development. This preservation connects to the history of traditional fishing communities that operated in this region.

The eastern section functions as a clothing-optional bathing area where visitors gather to swim freely near Montaña Roja. This part of the beach has become a meeting place for people who prefer this style of bathing.

The beach is accessible by bus or car, with parking areas available at both ends. Visitors should note there is minimal shade, so bringing sun protection and water is advisable.

The sand here is lighter than the typical dark volcanic sand found at other beaches on Tenerife. This distinctive quality results from the geological conditions specific to this location.
