Banana Split

Banana Split is a drop tower ride at PortAventura World that lifts passengers to a tall structure before releasing them in a free fall descent. The gondolas travel along a vertical track and pause at the highest point before beginning their downward motion.

The ride opened in the early 21st century within the themed area of the park and expanded the range of thrill attractions. It attracted visitors seeking intense falling experiences from the beginning.

The tower structure incorporates architectural elements from the Palace Tower of the Maya city of Palenque, reflecting Mexican pre-Hispanic design elements.

Riders should not carry loose items and must remain secured throughout the entire experience. The queue can grow longer on busy days, so visiting during early morning or late afternoon helps reduce wait times.

The ride uses compressed air instead of magnets to slow down the gondolas after the fall, allowing for a smoother stop. This system reduces mechanical stress and provides a consistent braking process at the end of each cycle.
