Stampida, Wooden roller coaster in PortAventura World, Spain.
Stampida is a wooden roller coaster with two parallel tracks carrying riders in separate red and blue trains side by side. The course features multiple hills and sharp turns with sections where the two paths cross and weave around each other.
The ride opened in 1997 as part of the park's early development and quickly became a signature attraction. Its design set a new standard for wooden coaster experiences in Europe at that time.
The ride tells a Wild West story with two families competing for land, a theme visible in the decoration and structure throughout the course. Visitors experience this narrative as they watch the parallel tracks cross and interact with each other.
Riders must be at least 1.20 meters tall to board, and the queue moves faster during early morning hours before the park gets crowded. Wearing comfortable shoes helps since you'll walk to the ride location across the park's grounds.
The two trains don't just run side by side but actually cross and weave through each other's paths multiple times along the wooden structure. This creates surprising moments where riders can see and interact visually with passengers on the opposite track.
