PortAventura Park, Theme park in Vila-seca, Spain
PortAventura Park is an amusement park in Vila-seca and Salou on the Catalan coast with six themed areas and more than 40 attractions. The site stretches across a large ground with paths, gardens, and squares between the different zones.
The park opened in 1995 as the first major amusement park project in Spain and attracted visitors from home and abroad right from the start. Over the years it was expanded and rebuilt several times to integrate new attractions and areas.
The themed zones display regional architecture and ways of life through building facades, plants, and food offerings from each world area. Visitors experience shows with local dances and music that underline the character of each zone.
Admission tickets can be purchased on site or in advance to reduce waiting times. The park is large, so it helps to have a plan for the areas and rides you want to see.
One of the roller coasters is named Shambhala and ranks among the tallest in Europe, with a height of 76 meters (249 feet). The total length of all roller coaster tracks in the park reaches around 5 kilometers (3.1 miles).
