Casa Macaya, Modernist palace in Eixample, Spain

Casa Macaya features white stone walls adorned with sculptures, carved decorations, and detailed ornamentation across its grand facade on Passeig Sant Joan.

In 1899, cotton merchant Roma Macaya commissioned architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch to design this residence, which exemplified the wealth of Barcelona industrial elite.

The building now operates as a cultural center managed by La Caixa, offering three permanent exhibitions about Modernism, architecture, and local history.

Located at Passeig Sant Joan 108, this attraction welcomes visitors Monday through Friday from 10:00 to 14:00 and 16:00 to 20:00 with free admission.

Casa Macaya stands as one of few Barcelona mansions where aristocrats and servants shared the same staircase, despite residing on different floors.
