Puerta Bonita

Puerta Bonita is a former iron gate in the Carabanchel district of southern Madrid that once marked the boundary between different sections of the neighborhood. The gate was originally part of a large private estate and shaped how the growing district developed.

The gate was built during Madrid's expansion period and marked the entrance to the large Quinta de Vistalegre estate. It disappeared in 1982 due to an accident, but the name remained in the memory of the district.

The gate's name means 'Beautiful Gate' and it serves as a gathering point where neighbors meet and local events take place in the district. For residents, this location holds special significance as a neighborhood meeting spot.

The location sits in a residential area with good bus connections and access to local paths around the neighborhood. The area is easy to reach on foot and offers various ways to explore the surrounding streets.

The gate inspired the founding of football club CD Puerta Bonita, which represents the district in regional competitions. The sports club took its name directly from this historic location.
