The stone church exhibits Gothic architecture with minimal exterior decoration, focusing on the portal, rose window, and bell tower design.
Built in 1395 following King Juan I of Castile's order to replace a hermitage that contained the tomb of Saint Lesmes.
The church maintains the remains of Saint Lesmes, carved in alabaster near the altar, recognized as the patron saint of Burgos.
The building received extensive restoration work between 2012 and 2013, including improvements to the western facade and structural elements.
The church features a stone pulpit, considered the finest in Burgos, and a plateresque choir located in the altar area.
