Iglesia de los Santos Justo y Pastor, Toledo

The Iglesia de los Santos Justo y Pastor is a church featuring a rectangular layout with wooden roofing and several side chapels topped with ribbed vaults. The main entrance is built into the lower section of an attached tower, framed by stone pillars.

This church was founded in 1201 following the Christian reconquest of Toledo from Muslim rule. Its construction marked a period when the city was reshaping its religious landscape after centuries of coexistence.

The church honors Saints Justus and Pastor, two young martyrs whose story remains central to local religious life and tradition. Their memory shapes how this place is experienced by those who visit and pray here.

Access is through a portal framed by stone pillars located at the base of the tower. The interior space can be dimly lit, so eyes need time to adjust when entering from the bright streets outside.

The exterior displays a distinctive red plaster finish designed to mimic the brick pattern underneath. The apse incorporates Mudejar-style blind arches, a blend of Islamic and Christian architectural traditions visible in the decorative details.
