Iglesia de Nuestra Señora Estrella del Mar

The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora Estrella del Mar is a Gothic Revival church in Huelva with three naves separated by pointed arches, with the central nave rising higher than the side naves. The building functions as both a parish church and convent serving the local community.

The municipal architect José María Pérez Carasa designed and built this structure between 1922 and 1929 for the Daughters of Charity working at Huelva Provincial Hospital. An earthquake in 1969 caused significant damage and closure, leading the Brotherhood of Christ of Mercy to initiate restoration work in 1991.

The interior vaults feature a painted starry sky pattern that symbolizes the connection to the sea and the patron saint. This decorative choice creates a distinctive visual impression when you enter the space.
