Palace of the Marquis of Ferrera, Luarca, Noble palace in Luarca, Spain.

The Palace of the Marquis of Ferrera is a building made of two connected wings that form an L-shape in the center of Luarca. The structure was built around a curved archway and combines different building styles added over multiple generations.

A fortified tower stood on this site before the 13th century and was later transformed into a residential palace. The transformation happened in stages, with the oldest known section dating to the 15th century and expanded with additional structures in later periods.

The palace reflects the story of an influential family, whose name is preserved in the coats of arms displayed on the facade. The architecture shows how the taste and power of its residents changed over the centuries.

The building is open to the public today and houses a library and cultural center. It sits in the heart of Luarca and can be reached via Calle Olavarrieta, making it easy to visit while walking through the town.

The most interesting architectural detail is the skewed arch that connects the two main wings of the palace. This unusual arch is a rare solution that shows the challenge of linking the two sections built at different times.
