Carta Palace, Manor house in Plaza de la Candelaria, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain.
The Carta Palace features a facade combining neoclassical elements with Canarian baroque architecture, including traditional wooden balconies and two interior courtyards.
Matias Rodriguez Carta ordered the construction of this palace in 1721, and the building work continued until its completion in 1752.
The palace received the designation of Cultural Interest Good in 1947, making it the first protected building in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The palace now serves as a cultural space and tourist information office, managed by the government of the Canary Islands.
During the Spanish Civil War in 1936, the building became the center of conflict when military forces seized it, leading to confrontations in Plaza de la Candelaria.
