Málaga's Museum of Airports and Air Travel

The Museo Nacional de Aeropuertos y Transporte Aéreo displays vintage aircraft, historical documents, and interactive exhibits across three connected buildings near Málaga Airport. The collection includes various aircraft and aviation equipment spanning different periods.

Málaga Airport began operations in 1948 with a terminal building designed by architect Luis Gutiérrez Soto that remained in use until 1968. The museum was later established in this historic structure to preserve the early years of modern aviation in the region.

The exhibits show how Spanish aviation developed through uniforms, tickets, weighing machines, and photographs that record changes in travel customs. Visitors can see how the experience of flying transformed over the decades.

The museum operates with varying hours throughout the week, and guided tours are available if you request them in advance. It helps to check opening times before your visit since these may vary by season.

A working flight simulator cockpit lets visitors operate an aircraft, providing hands-on experience of how modern planes are controlled. The airport tower remains standing and can be visited to see how air traffic controllers once worked.
