Royal Seminar of San Carlos Borromeo, Religious seminary and monument in central Zaragoza, Spain
The Royal Seminar of San Carlos Borromeo is a religious seminary with a brick church and several chapels in central Zaragoza. The spaces connect through lateral doors that form an interconnected network of religious rooms.
The seminary rose on the grounds of the former Main Synagogue of Zaragoza and was later transformed into a Baroque structure. Architect Pablo Diego Ibáñez shaped its present appearance through his designs.
The chapel on the right displays artworks spanning multiple periods that shape the character of the space today. Visitors encounter here a collection of works gathered across centuries.
The building is located in the old quarter and is accessible during regular opening hours. It is recommended to check beforehand since hours may vary and events sometimes take place.
The first chapel on the right holds six original paintings by Vicente Berdusán from the 17th century. The works were commissioned by the Dukes of Villahermosa as a family memorial.
