Parque O'Donnell, Municipal park in Alcalá de Henares, Spain.
Parque O'Donnell is a spacious green area with well-laid walking paths, sports facilities, and many pine trees lining the Paseo de los Pinos. The grounds also include a municipal swimming pool, children's playground, and various recreational options for different age groups.
The park was established in 1898 on the former promenade area and opened to the public in 1899 under Mayor Félix Huerta's leadership. Municipal architect Martín Pastells designed the layout and overall character of the space.
The park takes its name from General Leopoldo O'Donnell, a significant figure in 19th-century Spanish history. Walking through the space, you sense how it honors his legacy and remains tied to local memory.
You can visit throughout the year, and the different areas are easy to reach on foot. It helps to wear comfortable shoes since the park offers plenty of ground to explore at your own pace.
The park contains a rose garden with over 2,600 rose plants of various varieties, created in 2012. This flowering section offers a quiet retreat tucked within the green space.
