Museo Arqueológico y Paleontológico de la Comunidad de Madrid, Regional archaeological museum in Alcalá de Henares, Spain.
The Museo Arqueológico y Paleontológico de la Comunidad de Madrid is a museum housed in a carefully restored 17th-century Dominican convent that displays extensive collections. The galleries hold fossils, everyday artifacts from earlier human periods, and Roman mosaics.
The site began in 1999 when the former Dominican convent Madre de Dios was transformed and its spaces made way for the new museum. The building had previously served as a cavalry barracks, notably during events in 1808.
The place shows how people in this region lived and developed from earliest times onward. You can see how daily objects, tools, and craftsmanship changed across thousands of years.
The museum is open on most weekdays and also on Sundays, with different hours depending on the day. Entry is free, so you can explore the collections at your own pace.
The building houses a specialized library with materials on archaeology, cartography, and museum studies used for research purposes. This collection makes it more than just an exhibition space.
