Sa Torreta

Sa Torreta is a beach in Formentera with fine sand extending roughly 170 meters along the coast and featuring a small rocky islet directly offshore. The narrow shoreline is shaped by this distinctive formation just beyond the waterline.

The name comes from a former coastal watchtower that once served as a defense structure against sea raids in earlier centuries. The remains of this defensive installation recall a time of intense coastal protection in the region.

The beach is known as a clothing-optional area, reflecting the open and tolerant attitudes found along many Mediterranean coasts of the Balearic Islands. Visitors experience a relaxed and accepting environment here.

Access requires either a boat ride or roughly a 90-minute coastal walk from Espalmador Beach, as inland paths are poorly marked. Sturdy footwear is important, and it pays to check tides and weather conditions before visiting.

The water remains shallow far from shore, preventing boats from approaching the beach closely. This natural limitation helps protect the bay and its peaceful character.
